For most people cleaning is really a daunting task, but it shouldn’t be!  Sometimes I look at the mess at home and I can’t comprehend where to start.  So we’ve taken time to do some research to compile a few savvy tricks you can use!  Once you’ve gotten these simple tricks down, I’m sure you’ll find that tackling that mess can be a very calming and super satisfying activity.

What’s the best way to start cleaning?

Cleaning is much more effective if you choose one task at a time (dusting, vacuuming, mopping) and repeating it in every room of the house, rather than cleaning the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms in that order. This way, you won't feel like you're stuck in a never-ending cleaning loop, doing the same job over and over. It's a bit time-consuming and physically draining to clean and tidy up things around but do not worry we have narrowed down complex ways and made it simpler.

Here are 5 steps that you can easily follow to effectively clean your home.

1. Declutter

Go through each room and pick up the clutter before you begin cleaning. Consider if you should put each object away, throw it out, or donate it when you pick it up – books, well-read paperbacks, old shoes, etc.  I know it gets difficult to donate or let things go but hey as Marie Kondo says, “if it doesn’t bring you joy, get rid of it.”  It might not be exactly those words but it’s within that context.

2. Get Your Tools Ready!

Having every tool and equipment you need to clean in one compact location, whether it's a caddy, bucket, or tote, makes the job much easier. Place your cleaning tools in one location so you won't have to waste time searching for supplies while cleaning. It will also be easier finding and gathering them for your next cleaning session.

3. Dust & Vacuum

Make sure the fans and other ventilation systems are switched off before you begin dusting. Dust the tops of furniture and the undersides of cabinets, as well as handrails, picture frames, knickknacks, and television screens. Tie a microfiber cloth to the end of a mop or broom for hard-to-reach areas like blinds and upper shelves. Until vacuuming, change the sheets in the bedrooms.

4. Scrub

Soak bleach cleaners on areas with hard to remove stains and dirt before scrubbing. Allow it to sit for at least 15 to 30 minutes to dissolve the dirt and stains. We suggest starting with the kitchen sink, then move on to the bathroom sinks, tubs, and toilets. After that, go back to the kitchen and begin scrubbing.

5. Maintain your equipment

Maintaining the cleaning equipment is a frequently neglected aspect of cleaning the home. Cleaning with a filthy mop or a vacuum with a full bag is ineffective. You'll end up wasting more time. Clean them properly before storing them.

Tip: One of the most effective ways to clean a house quickly is to make it a team effort. Plan with your family ahead of time and delegate tasks to each member. Working together can add some fun to cleaning. Your house will be sparkling in no time.
